BridgeLab — Free Download. HL7 & FHIR message workbench

BridgeLab serves healthcare integration engineers who need a desktop tool for HL7 v2 and FHIR message handling. The application combines a schema-aware editor, MLLP and HTTP communication, validation, PHI anonymization and XSD export in a single package. It processes large messages with base64 payloads through a streaming parser, runs offline against local test servers and provides interface translations in five languages. Native installers are available for Windows, macOS and Linux.

The core of BridgeLab is MIT-licensed and free for commercial use, providing HL7 v2 and FHIR editing, validation, MLLP send, HTTP GET, PHI detection and a community XSD set. Pro and Enterprise tiers add the MLLP listener, batch validation, PHI masking, FHIRPath evaluation, the full XSD catalogue, HTTP authentication and mutations, unlimited plugins and priority support. Activation uses Ed25519-signed keys with hardware binding, verified locally after a single online exchange or through an offline key for air-gapped sites.

BridgeLab targets integration engineers who work between free tools that receive minimal updates and enterprise products priced for large hospital systems. The application handles messages up to 10 megabytes with base64 attachments, maintains peak memory below 300 megabytes, and supports HL7 versions 2.3 through 2.7.1 with 1,964 message structures. Custom Z-segments parse and edit cleanly. A command-line interface enables validation, anonymization and conversion tasks within continuous integration pipelines.

Use Cases for BridgeLab

Streams large HL7 messages without blocking interface Zero-copy parsing with on-demand field expansion
Validates FHIR resources in JSON and XML Evaluates FHIRPath expressions against loaded resources
Replaces oversized fields with byte-count markers Keeps memory footprint low with binary payloads
Applies structural and data-type rule checks Loads custom validation rules from plugin packs
Implements MLLP client and server endpoints Handles framing, acknowledgements and live inbox
Sends REST requests with authentication headers Targets local or remote endpoints offline
Masks protected health information fields automatically Preserves message structure after anonymization
Displays schema metadata for selected fields Shows type, cardinality and length constraints
Renders tree view with all standard fields Bidirectional navigation between tree and editor
Generates XSD schemas for HL7 message types Compatible with common integration engines
Loads declarative JSON validation and anonymization packs Reloads plugins live without application restart
Validates entire folders of messages at once Produces per-file status and detailed error listings
Converts messages to JSON and CSV formats Preserves segment structure for downstream pipelines
Provides command-line binary for automation tasks Emits JSON or JUnit XML for CI integration
Uses signed license keys with hardware binding Supports offline activation for air-gapped sites
