Clarus is a Windows utility that takes screenshots and records screen activity with audio. It captures full screens, selected areas, or individual windows, and stores the results on a corner card for immediate use. The editor includes over fifteen annotation tools that remain editable until export. The program indexes all captures by the text inside them, so you can locate a screenshot by typing a remembered word. The free version requires no account and has no time limit.
This application combines capture, recording, and annotation in one package. Video recordings are placed on a timeline where clips can be trimmed, split, or moved, with separate audio lanes for microphone and system sound. A webcam overlay can be added during recording. The instant replay buffer saves the last few minutes of activity even when you did not press record. Optical character recognition extracts text from any capture for pasting into other documents.
The corner card system changes how captures are handled. Instead of opening a separate window, each screenshot appears in the corner and can be copied, saved, dragged out, or uploaded directly. Multiple captures stack up quietly and can be grouped into a single folder card. Pinning a capture on top keeps it visible above other windows. Cloud sharing is optional and works by generating a short link, with expiry or password protection available.
