Driver Magician Lite functions as a device driver backup application. It scans installed hardware, copies all related driver files, and stores them in a designated folder. After a clean system installation, the stored drivers are reinstalled without searching for original discs or manufacturer downloads.
The application includes an online driver database that identifies outdated packages and downloads current versions. Unknown hardware components are matched against a hardware identifier list to provide vendor and model information. Users can also create a standalone executable containing all backed-up drivers for installation on another computer.
A secondary feature handles backup of user folders such as Documents and Desktop. Driver uninstallation removes selected drivers, their files, and registry entries from the system. The program runs without background services and launches only when the user starts it for a backup, restoration, or update task.
