DropSlim is a desktop utility that reduces image file size on local machines. It accepts PNG, JPEG, GIF, SVG, WebP, HEIC, and AVIF files through drag and drop and processes whole folders in one operation. The program converts formats, applies maximum pixel dimensions, and writes results with a .min suffix, into a minified subfolder, or to a chosen directory. No account and no internet connection are required.
The application targets people who send images by email, upload them to websites, or hand them to clients. Large screenshots, photos, and graphics become smaller without visible quality loss in typical use. Batch processing handles hundreds of files, and results are listed for review. A command line version for macOS offers the same compression engine for scripted workflows.
DropSlim runs offline and performs no tracking or uploading. The source code is published under the MIT license. Versions exist for Windows 10 and later and for macOS 11 and later on Apple Silicon. The interface supports several languages, and output behavior is controlled through settings for suffix, subfolder, overwrite, and custom destination.
| Direct byte reduction without remote server transmission | Shrink image payloads locally before network upload |
| Encoder-driven transcoding across multiple image standards | Re-encode assets to satisfy CMS format constraints |
| Dimension capping preserves proportional scaling behavior | Downscale oversized graphics for layout specifications |
| Recursive directory ingestion via drag gesture | Bulk import nested folders without manual selection |
| Concurrent queue handles large file volumes | Process hundreds of images in single operation |
| Configurable output path with suffix strategies | Control destination naming and overwrite behavior |
| Target-oriented parameter bundles for common scenarios | Apply predefined settings for web or email delivery |
| Air-gapped execution requires no external connectivity | Operate within isolated or restricted network environments |
| Zero telemetry and accountless local processing model | Keep sensitive imagery confined to local storage |
| Terminal-based automation with scripting support | Integrate compression into CI or shell pipelines |
