Glyfo converts images of text into text that can be selected, copied and searched. It handles screenshots, photographs of pages, scanned forms, slides, video frames and complete PDF documents. A folder of images can be processed in one operation, and the results are saved as plain text or Markdown files. Recognition takes place on the local computer.
The recognition engine is the one included with Windows, so captured material is not transmitted to an external service. The program opens no network connections, requires no account and displays no advertising. A capture history is stored locally and can be searched, cleared or turned off. Results can be read aloud with voices already installed on the computer, and the text can be exported for use in other applications.
Additional capabilities include decoding QR codes and barcodes from the same image, restoring paragraph breaks in prose, and removing the spaces that recognition inserts into Chinese, Japanese and Korean text. The interface is available in 33 languages and follows the Windows language setting. Translation and the enhanced-accuracy recognition model require a Copilot+ PC.
