Nettongia PDF Editor is a portable Windows program that opens PDF documents and modifies their actual content. Text is edited in place on the page, images can be moved, resized, and rotated, and pages can be reordered, rotated, or deleted. Optical character recognition for five languages runs without an internet connection. All processing happens on the local computer.
The program keeps the original document intact through a dedicated Save a copy command. A compatibility inspection reports risky structures before saving, and a background worker performs saves without blocking the interface. Crash recovery captures unsaved edits, and the Recent files menu returns to earlier documents. Password-protected files can be opened, and imported pages from protected documents are supported.
Nettongia PDF Editor targets users who work with engineering documents, scanned archives, and confidential files. It removes selected source text and deleted images before writing new page content, so the result is a genuinely edited PDF rather than a layer of annotations. The package is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11 x64.
| Modifies embedded PDF text runs instead of overlaying annotations | Blue outline identifies editable text objects under pointer |
| Thumbnail reordering with bookmarks following logical pages | Reversible page rotation affecting text, images and signatures |
| Direct-click manipulation of inserted and embedded raster images | Lossless preservation of JPEG streams and orthogonal rotations |
| Bundled offline OCR models for five European languages | Invisible searchable text layer without altering page pixels |
| Worker-thread search across current working document version | Match highlighting with F3 and Shift+F3 navigation |
| Unified undo history spanning text, page and object operations | History survives crash recovery and session restoration |
| Debounced background capture of unsaved editing state | Validated ZIP and JSON recovery with integrity checks |
| Independent safety copy that preserves active document path | First save triggers Save As with _edited suffix suggestion |
| Helper-process saves prevent interpreter blocking during writes | Cancellable worker with atomic destination replacement |
| Preflight structural scan with three-tier compatibility status | Detection of signatures, XFA, JavaScript and portfolios |
| Masked password dialog for encrypted source documents | Credentials excluded from editor state and recovery data |
| Ten-entry recent file list stored in local settings | Stale entries removed when target path is missing |
| Lazy-loading document tree for bookmarks and EPLAN structures | Device links center and enlarge destination regions |
| Memory-bounded tiled rendering with viewport-centered priority | Revision-keyed LRU cache prevents stale tile replacement |
| Portable Windows ZIP with bundled dependencies and models | Drag-and-drop or command-line path invocation support |
