SnipFor is a local screen capture application for Windows that combines snapshot creation with text recognition. The program captures selected regions, full screens, or active windows, then processes the image through an embedded OCR engine. Recognized text can be copied, edited, or saved without an internet connection. Annotation tools are available immediately after capture, including arrows, highlights, numbered stamps, and blur overlays for sensitive data.
The software also records screen video and GIF files, with built-in trimming and format conversion. Captured images can be pinned above other windows for reference during work. PDF export, splitting, and merging are included as standard functions. Corporate users can enforce watermarks and deploy the application silently through MSI packages managed by Windows Registry policies.
SnipFor processes all data on the local machine. No captures, extracted text, or usage statistics are uploaded to external servers. The application supports six OCR languages and is designed for low resource consumption on older hardware. Individual users can access the full feature set without subscription fees or account registration.
