Twitch Retold is a standalone desktop viewer that filters commercial content from live broadcasts. The application unlocks subscriber-restricted archives and provides sequential playback of past streams. A custom player handles VOD navigation with precise seeking and chat synchronization. Interface modifications remove promotional elements and recommended content from view.
The client includes timestamp-based resume functionality for interrupted viewing sessions. Users can switch between live broadcasts and archived content through a central navigation tab. Emote support covers 7TV, BetterTTV, and FrankerFaceZ systems. Automatic update checks run every two hours against the GitHub release repository.
The program operates on Windows, macOS, and Linux through the Electron runtime. Localization covers six languages including English, Italian, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. A dark OLED-optimized theme reduces visual fatigue during extended viewing. The settings modal provides independent control over interface cleaners and playback options.
