XYplorer replaces the standard Windows file browser with a tabbed, scriptable environment. It runs without installation from any folder or removable drive. Each tab maintains its own navigation history and view settings. Dual pane mode shows two locations simultaneously for direct comparison and copying. The built-in search handles regular expressions, boolean logic, and metadata filters.
The interface accepts deep customization of fonts, colors, toolbar buttons, and keyboard shortcuts. Custom columns extract metadata such as image dimensions or audio tags directly into the file list.
