BraveDebloater is a command-line utility that applies Brave and Chromium enterprise policies to remove bundled services from the browser. The program covers Rewards, Wallet, VPN, Leo AI Chat, News, Talk, Playlist, Email Aliases, Speedreader, and Wayback prompts in addition to telemetry collectors such as P3A and Web Discovery. It starts in preview mode and creates backups before each applied run. The Extreme preset removes extra UI elements including background mode, promotions, Browser Labs, new tab cards, shopping list, QR generator, translate prompts, autofill, and the Google search side panel. Profile preference cleanup edits local Preferences JSON files to hide sponsored backgrounds and some toolbar surfaces. The script supports Windows registry policies, macOS defaults and plist payloads, and Linux managed JSON files with native format writes for each platform.
BraveDebloater provides policy-based cleanup with read-only preview commands and backup management for Brave browser installations. The tool includes Doctor mode for diagnosing policy conflicts, feature toggles for selective removal, and export options for MDM deployments on iOS and Android. Machine-wide policy mode writes to local-machine registry, managed preferences, or managed policy files and requires elevation only for the apply step. Restore operations validate backup files and limit writes to Brave policy keys and Preferences files. The script does not require installation and runs directly from an extracted folder using the Invoke-BraveDebloat.ps1 entrypoint.
BraveDebloater removes Brave-specific surfaces and Chromium telemetry through enterprise policies that the browser displays in brave://policy. The project releases include SHA256SUMS.txt files for archive verification, and the PowerShell script supports dry-run, WhatIf, ListFeatures, Doctor, and ExportPolicyPath modes. The default Extreme preset removes most Brave extras while the Standard and High presets provide lighter cleanup levels. The tool refuses to weaken Safe Browsing, disable updates, or modify Shield allowlists, which keeps the focus on advertising surfaces, AI assistant entry points, telemetry reporting, and promotional UI elements.
