GeoPhoto — Free Download. Geotag and Map Viewer

GeoPhoto is a mapping tool for photo and video archives on Windows. It reads GPS coordinates from media metadata and places each file on an interactive world map, supporting JPG, HEIC, MP4 and other formats. Positions can be added, corrected or derived from GPX and KML tracks when cameras recorded no location data. Automatic grouping, slideshow playback with locations, date filtering, several map view modes, OneDrive sources and an Exif information panel complete the set of functions.

The application serves photographers, travellers and archivists who need to see where their recordings were made. It works with local folders and cloud storage, writes geotags into file metadata and displays capture parameters stored in Exif tags. A date filter narrows the visible set to a chosen period, while map modes change the representation of the surface. The program is developed by Timo Partl in C# for Windows and is distributed through the Microsoft Store.

GeoPhoto organizes media by capture location instead of by folder name or file date. Markers on the map correspond to individual files or to automatically formed groups, and a slideshow follows the geographic sequence of a collection. Geotag editing and track-based assignment cover files without coordinates, and the Exif panel supplies camera and exposure details. OneDrive support brings remote content into the same map view, so an archive spread across devices and cloud storage is reviewed in one place.

Use Cases for GeoPhoto

Plots photographs and videos onto global map layout Extracts GPS coordinates from metadata, pins capture positions
Reads JPG, HEIC, PNG, TIFF, MP4, MOV containers Still images and videos handled inside one library
Slideshow mode shows place of each recorded file Map view follows playback, moves to appropriate region
Assigns coordinates to media lacking GPS data Writes position into file metadata for individual or batch selection
Reviews and corrects inaccurate or shifted recorded positions Corrected values saved back, appear immediately in map view
Imports GPX and KML tracks from navigation devices Matches timestamps to assign positions along travelled route
Groups media recorded close in time and same area Reduces separate markers, reviews trip as single unit
Connects to cloud storage, displays remote media on map OneDrive content browsed like local folders without downloading
Shows camera model, lens, exposure, capture date, resolution Exif panel gives context for sorting and documentation tasks
Map switches between standard, hybrid, satellite, terrain modes Changes visual representation from schematic roads to elevation data
Date filter restricts displayed items to defined period Start and end dates separate trips, seasons, project phases
Source list defines folders scanned, added through options menu Multiple directories across drives presented as single library
