AnthemScore

AnthemScore — Free Download. Audio transcription

AnthemScore is a software application for automatic music transcription. It converts audio files such as MP3 and WAV into sheet music. The program uses machine learning to detect notes, beats, and instruments. A high-resolution spectrogram and virtual keyboard support manual correction of complex passages.

  • Automatic note detection. The core engine analyzes the audio signal using a convolutional neural network. It identifies individual notes, percussive elements, and rhythmic patterns. The processing result is a visual piano roll synchronized with the audio waveform. This removes the need for manual input of simple monophonic recordings.
  • Spectrogram display. A high-resolution frequency map shows the energy distribution over time. Users can zoom into specific time ranges to inspect harmonics and transient details. The spectrogram brightness correlates with amplitude. This view helps distinguish between closely spaced notes and overlapping instruments.
  • Virtual keyboard overlay. A piano keyboard is displayed along the bottom of the spectrogram. Clicking a key plays the corresponding pitch for reference. Hovering over the keyboard highlights the frequency band for that note. This direct mapping assists in verifying the accuracy of detected pitches.
  • Note editing tools. Individual notes can be added by clicking on the spectrogram or removed with a selection tool. A slider adjusts the sensitivity of the automatic detection within a selected region. This allows local refinement without reprocessing the entire audio file. Multiple notes can be dragged to change pitch or time position.
  • Beat and measure adjustment. Users can tap the downbeat marker while audio plays to set the start of each measure. The software recalculates bar lines based on the tapped positions. Tempo changes can be inserted at any measure. Beat subdivisions including triplets are supported for irregular rhythms.
  • Instrument presets. The output formatting adapts to the selected instrument family. Options include piano, guitar, bass, violin, flute, and others. Each preset sets the correct clef, transposition, and playable range. This prevents notes from appearing outside the physical range of the chosen instrument.
  • Sheet music export. Finished transcriptions can be saved as PDF, MusicXML, or MIDI files. The PDF output includes standard notation with staff lines and dynamic markings. MusicXML allows import into notation editors such as MuseScore or Sibelius. MIDI export provides a digital representation for further synthesis.
  • Tablature generation. For fretted string instruments, AnthemScore can generate tablature instead of standard notation. The algorithm selects optimal finger positions along the fretboard. Users can manually override string and fret assignments. This output is useful for guitar and bass players.
  • Playback control. Audio playback speed can be reduced without changing pitch. This supports detailed listening of fast passages. A loop function repeats a selected time range continuously. The playback cursor remains synchronized with the spectrogram and note display.
  • Copy and paste sections. Repeated musical phrases can be duplicated within the editing window. Users select a time range and copy the detected notes. The pasted material is inserted at a chosen location. This accelerates the correction process for songs with recurring motifs.
  • Time signature and key signature editing. Any measure can have a different time signature or key signature. The software recalculates the notation layout accordingly. Accidentals are adjusted to match the new key. This supports compositions with modulations and metric changes.
  • Batch processing. Multiple audio files can be queued for automatic transcription. Each file is processed with the same settings. Results are saved to a designated output folder. This feature is intended for large collections of recordings.
  • CSV data export. Raw note data can be exported as a comma-separated values file. Each row contains pitch, start time, duration, and velocity. This format is suitable for statistical analysis or custom software pipelines. The CSV output bypasses notation formatting entirely.
  • Audio format support. The program reads MP3, WAV, WMA, M4A, MP2, FLAC, OGG, AIFF, and AMR files. Decoding is handled internally. No conversion step is required before transcription. This covers most common consumer recording formats.

AnthemScore was developed by Lunaverus, a software company focused on audio analysis tools. The first public release appeared in 2017. The application is written in C++ for performance-critical signal processing and uses Qt for the graphical interface. The machine learning components rely on TensorFlow for neural network inference.
