AppRig

AppRig — Free Download. Volume mixer

AppRig, developed by itsmakingthings, is a desktop utility hub that consolidates many daily tools into one docked strip at the edge of the screen. It provides per-application audio mixing with output routing, brightness control for DDC/CI monitors, note cards with reminders, sticky notes that stay on top, a time tracker for billable hours, a quick launcher, habit and food logging, a screen colour picker with palettes and contrast checking, batch file renaming, batch image conversion, a system monitor, world clocks, timers, keystroke display, and a cursor highlighter. The program operates locally without accounts, telemetry, or network calls, keeping data in a single file on the user’s computer.

  • Time Tracker. Records time spent on projects with individual timers, detects idle periods, supports an optional Pomodoro cycle, and calculates billable amounts based on hourly rates. Exports data to CSV format when using the Pro edition. Aims to replace separate timekeeping apps for freelancers and contractors.
  • Per-App Audio Mixer. Adjusts system volume and the volume of each running application independently. Routes audio output to different devices per app. Removes the need for multiple audio control utilities by centralising all sound management in one panel.
  • Monitor Brightness Control. Changes brightness on every DDC/CI-compatible monitor through individual sliders, a master slider, and an optional automatic adjustment from sunrise to sunset. Works without touching the monitor's physical buttons.
  • Notes and Lists. Creates three-state cards that cycle through statuses, sets due-date reminders, and produces pop-out sticky notes that remain above other windows. Handles short reminders and longer checklists in the same place.
  • Clipboard History. Stores text and image clips for later pasting, allows pinning important entries, and automatically ignores data copied from password managers to protect sensitive information.
  • Quick Add Capture. Opens a global-hotkey input box that accepts new notes, tasks, or reminders without requiring the main application window to be open first. Speeds up capturing thoughts during other work.
  • Quick Access Launcher. Displays configurable tiles for frequently opened files, folders, applications, and websites. Launches any item with a single click from the docked strip.
  • Batch Image Conversion. Converts multiple images between JPG, PNG, WebP, and other formats while offering resize dimensions and quality settings. Processes entire folders in one operation.
  • Batch File Rename. Renames many files using ordered rules, shows a live preview of changes, detects naming conflicts before applying, and provides a full undo option after completion.
  • System Monitor. Displays live readings for CPU, GPU, memory, disk, VRAM, refresh rate, and network activity. Gives a compact overview of hardware performance without opening separate monitoring tools.
  • Colour Picker and Contrast Checker. Includes built-in palettes, a screen eyedropper for sampling colours anywhere, and a WCAG contrast checker that evaluates text readability against backgrounds.
  • World Clocks and Timers. Shows time in multiple time zones and runs any number of countdown timers and stopwatches in parallel. Useful for coordinating with remote teams or managing intervals.
  • Habit and Food Tracker. Supports yes/no habits, measured values, and counter types. Tracks streaks and displays 30-day, 90-day, and 365-day charts for reviewing consistency.
  • Mouse Highlighter and Keystroke Display. Draws attention to the cursor and shows pressed keys on screen during demonstrations, screen shares, and video recordings.
  • QR Code Generator. Produces QR codes that update live as text is typed, operating entirely offline without sending data to external services.

AppRig is developed by itsmakingthings. The program has been created as a local-first desktop application, with development beginning in 2024. It is written in C# using the .NET framework, targeting Windows systems. The developer built AppRig to reduce the number of separate background utilities running on a typical workstation. The core tools remain free, while a one-time Pro upgrade unlocks earnings tracking, larger batch operations, and additional styles. No subscription model is used.
