Arnis

Arnis — Free Download. Real-World Minecraft generator

Arnis is a generator that transforms real-world geographic data into detailed Minecraft worlds. The program processes geospatial information from OpenStreetMap and elevation datasets, building accurate terrain and architecture inside Minecraft Java Edition, Bedrock Edition, and Luanti. Users select an area on a map, choose a world, and start generation with adjustable scale, spawn point, and interior settings. The project is free, handles large-scale data, and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

  • Area Selection. The map interface provides a rectangle tool for defining the exact geographic bounding box that will be converted into a Minecraft world. The selected coordinates determine which OpenStreetMap objects, roads, buildings, and elevation samples are fetched and processed. Users can zoom and pan across global map data before confirming the region.
  • World Scale Control. The scale setting defines the ratio between real-world meters and Minecraft blocks. A lower scale value produces compact worlds where large cities fit into smaller areas, while a higher value spreads the same region across more blocks. This affects building dimensions, road widths, and terrain spacing.
  • Spawn Point Configuration. The spawn point option sets the exact coordinates where the player appears after world generation. Users can place the spawn inside a specific building, on a street, or at a landmark. The generator writes this position into the level data of the output world.
  • Building Interior Generation. This function creates interior spaces inside generated buildings instead of leaving them as solid blocks. It adds floors, walls, and room divisions based on building footprints and height data. Interiors can be enabled or disabled depending on performance and detail requirements.
  • Generation Modes. The mode selector controls what the program produces. Geo-terrain combines buildings and roads with real elevation. Geo-only places OpenStreetMap objects on flat ground. Terrain-only generates elevation without any objects and skips the OpenStreetMap and Overture queries entirely.
  • OpenStreetMap Data Processing. The program queries OpenStreetMap for buildings, roads, waterways, land use areas, and other tagged objects. Each element is converted into appropriate Minecraft blocks according to its type and attributes. Roads become paved paths, buildings become walled structures, and water becomes liquid blocks.
  • Elevation Data Integration. Elevation datasets provide height information for the selected area. The generator applies this data to shape the terrain surface, creating hills, valleys, and slopes that match real topography. Buildings and roads are placed on top of the modified terrain.
  • Cross-Platform World Export. Arnis writes output compatible with Minecraft Java Edition 1.17 and newer, Bedrock Edition, and Luanti (Minetest). Each target format receives the correct block mappings and world structure. The Luanti block-name mapping is derived from MC2MT by rollerozxa under LGPL v2.1 or later.
  • Command Line Interface. The CLI accepts parameters for output directory, bounding box, and generation mode. Users can run cargo with release flags and no default features to generate worlds without opening the graphical interface. This supports automation and batch processing of multiple regions.
  • Graphical User Interface. The GUI provides a visual map, configuration panels, and a generation button. Users adjust scale, spawn, interiors, and mode through controls before starting the process. The interface displays progress and writes the finished world to the selected Minecraft saves folder.
  • Overture Data Fetch. The Overture option supplements OpenStreetMap data with additional geographic features. It is used in geo-terrain and geo-only modes but has no effect in terrain-only mode. This expands coverage for areas where OpenStreetMap data is incomplete.
  • Modular Architecture. Data fetching, processing, and world generation are separated into distinct modules. This structure supports maintenance and scalability. Each module handles a specific stage of the pipeline, from querying external sources to writing final block data.
  • Nix Execution. Users of the Nix package manager can run the program directly from the repository without a manual build. The command specifies the output directory and bounding box as arguments. This provides a reproducible environment for generation tasks.
