HearthMove

HearthMove — Free Download. PC transfer

HearthMove transfers an entire Windows computer to a new machine across a home network, moving files, settings, installed applications, profiles, and even AI chat histories with bit-level verification and a detailed desktop receipt. Unlike typical migration tools that silently assume a successful copy, HearthMove provides documented proof of every transferred item. The application reinstalls software from official sources instead of corrupting installations by direct copy, recovers data from non-booting drives by connecting them via USB, and performs all transfers locally with encryption, never routing data through cloud servers or external networks.

  • Complete PC Migration. Transfers the full contents of an old Windows computer to a new one, including documents, media, entire secondary drives, system settings, installed application lists, user profiles, and application-specific data. The process covers not just the primary drive but also any additional internal or external drives that the user selects for migration, ensuring that nothing is left behind during the transition to new hardware.
  • Bit-Level Verification. Performs a cryptographic integrity check on every file after it arrives at the destination machine. Each transferred item is compared bit-for-bit against the original, and the results are written into a final receipt stored on the desktop. This removes uncertainty about silent corruption or incomplete transfers, giving the user a concrete record of what moved successfully and what requires further attention.
  • Application Reinstallation from Official Sources. Detects all programs installed on the old computer and never attempts to copy installed application folders, which would break registry entries and dependencies. Instead, HearthMove identifies each application, finds its official download source or package repository, and performs a clean, current installation on the new machine. Software without an official source is explicitly listed on the final receipt, ensuring that no application disappears without the user's knowledge.
  • Settings and Profile Transfer. Moves browser bookmarks, saved passwords, email client configurations, Telegram data, and hidden AppData folders that store user preferences and application states. The migrated settings are re-linked to the newly installed applications so that programs open with the same user-specific configurations, histories, and personalizations as on the original computer.
  • Outlook and Email Handling. Distinguishes between server-based email accounts and local mail archives. Accounts that synchronize with a mail server are not needlessly copied because they repopulate automatically after the user signs in on the new machine. Local PST archives, signatures, and other email-related files are transferred, and a short note is placed on the desktop explaining the two-click process for reconnecting those local items to the new Outlook installation.
  • AI Conversation Migration. Transfers and re-links chat histories from Claude Code, Claude Desktop, and Codex so that past interactions open on the new machine without manual export or import. Every saved conversation can also be exported to plain text format as an archival copy, preserving the full dialogue content independently of the applications that created it.
  • Non-Booting Drive Recovery. Operates when the old PC cannot start or boot into Windows. The user removes the old drive, connects it to the new computer via USB or as a secondary internal drive, and HearthMove locates the old Windows installation on that drive. The application then identifies all user accounts that existed on the old system and rescues their files, settings, application lists, and conversations by reading the drive directly without writing to it, including access to protected folders that the original Windows permissions would normally block.
  • Local Network Pairing. Connects two PCs over the local home network using a short code displayed on screen. The code establishes a direct, authenticated session between the machines without requiring accounts, logins, or cloud services. Discovery and pairing happen entirely within the local subnet, keeping the connection private and under the user's control.
  • Encrypted Direct Transfer. Encrypts all data in transit between the old and new computers. The transfer path is direct from machine to machine, never passing through the internet, a cloud provider, or any third-party server. No account creation, analytics collection, or telemetry reporting is performed, maintaining complete data locality and confidentiality.
  • Desktop Receipt Generation. Writes a final summary document to the desktop of the new machine after the migration completes. The receipt lists exactly which files and folders were moved, which items passed bit-level verification, which applications were reinstalled from official sources, which items lacked official sources, and any actions that still require manual attention. This serves as an audit trail for the entire migration process.
  • Multilingual Interface. Provides the HearthMove interface in 18 languages, allowing users to operate the migration tool in their preferred language. The selection covers major European, Asian, and other regional languages, reducing language barriers during a complex hardware transition.
  • One-Time Purchase Model. Operates under a permanent license with no subscription fees, recurring charges, or time-limited usage restrictions. A single purchase grants indefinite use of the software for the buyer, with the application functioning as a standalone Windows program.
  • Microsoft Store Trial Availability. Offers a free trial version through the Microsoft Store, enabling users to evaluate the migration capabilities before committing to a purchase. The trial provides a functional preview of the transfer and verification features within the constraints set by the store listing.
  • Secondary Drive Migration. Includes the option to transfer entire additional drives beyond the main system volume. Users can select which internal or external drives should be included in the migration, and those drives are processed with the same verification and receipt reporting as the primary drive contents.
  • Protected Folder Access. Reads data from folders that the original Windows installation would normally restrict or hide, such as other users' profile directories or system-protected locations. This capability is applied when recovering from a non-booting drive, ensuring that all recoverable user data is found and moved, not just files from the currently active account.
  • Direct USB Drive Reading. Supports migration from a drive that has been removed from a dead computer and connected to the new machine via USB adapter or enclosure. The software detects the old Windows installation on that drive, enumerates the accounts, and performs the rescue operation without modifying the source drive in any way.
  • Installed Application Identification. Scans the old system and builds a complete inventory of installed programs, including version information and install locations. This inventory drives the reinstallation process on the new machine and appears in the final receipt, showing which applications were successfully replaced with current versions and which could not be sourced officially.
  • No Cloud Dependency. Functions entirely without cloud storage, online accounts, or internet-based services. The two computers communicate only over the local network, and the transfer does not require an active internet connection for the data movement itself. Internet access is used only when downloading official application installers during the reinstallation phase.

HearthMove was created by Hearth Software, a development group focused on local data migration and system transfer utilities. The program was first released in 2019 after two years of internal testing and refinement. The application is written in C++ with portions of the network layer implemented in C for direct socket handling and low-level drive access.
