Meteoric

Meteoric — Free Download. Game Library manager

Meteoric is a video game library manager that brings together collections from Steam, GOG, and Epic Games into one organized space. It retrieves game details and achievements from connected services, supports custom game entries with metadata and covers, integrates SteamGridDB and IGDB for artwork and information, offers statistics on gaming habits, provides customizable views for browsing libraries, and includes background YouTube music playback. The application runs on a Rust and Tauri backend with an Angular frontend, delivering responsive performance when handling large game collections.

  • Unified Library View. This function collects and displays all games from every connected platform in a single interface. Each entry shows available metadata such as title, cover art, description, and platform origin. Custom games that do not belong to any store can be added manually with their own metadata. The view supports sorting and filtering so specific titles can be located within large collections. This serves as the primary workspace for reviewing and launching owned games.
  • Steam Integration. This function connects a Steam account to Meteoric and imports the owned game list along with achievement data. It synchronizes playtime records and completion status for each title. Achievement progress is retrieved and displayed next to the corresponding game entry. The integration keeps the local library aligned with the Steam account without manual re-entry of titles.
  • GOG Integration. This function links a GOG account and pulls the purchased game catalog into the unified library. It retrieves game metadata and achievement information available through the GOG service. Titles from GOG appear alongside games from other platforms with their own identifying markers. The synchronization process updates the local database when new purchases are detected.
  • Epic Games Integration. This function connects an Epic Games account and imports the owned game list into Meteoric. It gathers available metadata for each title and merges the entries with the rest of the collection. Achievement data is retrieved where the platform exposes it. The integration removes the need to check the Epic launcher separately when reviewing the full library.
  • Background YouTube Music. This function plays audio from YouTube while games are running or while the library is being browsed. Tracks or playlists can be selected and controlled from within the application. Playback continues in the background without interrupting other operations. This provides a music source during gaming sessions without switching to a separate browser window.
  • SteamGridDB Integration. This function connects to SteamGridDB to obtain high-quality covers, banners, and icons for game entries. Retrieved artwork can be applied to both store games and manually added custom titles. Multiple artwork options are presented for selection when available. This improves the visual consistency of the library when official assets are missing or unsatisfactory.
  • IGDB Integration. This function queries IGDB to automatically fetch detailed game information such as descriptions, release data, and cover images. The retrieved data enriches existing library entries without manual input. It is particularly valuable for custom games that lack metadata from any store. The integration keeps descriptions and artwork current with the IGDB database.
  • Custom Game Customization. This function allows each game entry to be modified with personal metadata, replacement covers, and other adjustments. Titles, descriptions, and artwork can be edited directly within the application. Custom entries receive the same treatment as store-imported games. This gives control over how the collection is presented when default data does not match expectations.
  • Statistics Dashboard. This function produces detailed statistics about the game library and playing habits. It reports metrics such as total game count, playtime distribution, and achievement completion rates. Trends across the collection are visualized for review. The data helps in understanding how the library has grown and which titles receive the most attention.
  • Customizable Views. This function offers multiple ways to browse and organize the game collection. Layouts can be adjusted to display games as grids, lists, or other arrangements. Sorting and grouping options change how entries are presented. This supports different preferences for navigating large libraries.
  • Fast Performance Backend. This function relies on the Rust and Tauri foundation to keep the application responsive. Memory usage remains controlled even when the library contains many titles. Operations such as synchronization and metadata retrieval complete without long delays. The architecture supports large collections without degrading interaction speed.
  • Achievement Tracking. This function collects and displays achievement information from connected platforms. Completion status for each game is shown alongside the corresponding entry. Progress toward full completion is visible without opening separate store clients. This centralizes achievement review within the same application used to browse the library.

Meteoric was created by Nytuo and has been in development since 2024. The project draws inspiration from GOG Galaxy and Playnite, two established game library managers. It is written in Rust for the backend logic and performance-critical operations, Angular for the user interface, and Tauri as the framework that binds the web frontend to the native backend. The GNU General Public License v3 covers the distribution of the software. The development acknowledges the Rust, Angular, and Tauri communities along with the authors of NPM libraries and Rust crates used throughout the project.
