BsonJet

BsonJet — Free Download. MongoDB GUI

BsonJet is a MongoDB management application for Windows, macOS and Linux that focuses on daily database operations. It supports copy and paste of values, documents, collections and entire databases between servers with raw BSON transfer and index inclusion. A dropped VPN connection does not restart the job. The program creates backups in mongodump-compatible archives, optionally inside AES-256 encrypted ZIP files. It displays replica set member health with live performance charts, shows sub-documents as additional table rows, includes a mongosh-compatible shell, and offers an AI assistant that uses the user’s own Claude or OpenAI key in read-only mode with a preview of data before transmission. Connections can be imported from Compass, Studio 3T, Robo 3T, NoSQLBooster, DataGrip, DbGate and DBeaver in one click.

  • Database copy and paste. Transfers values, documents, collections or complete databases between MongoDB servers. The operation uses raw BSON format in parallel and includes indexes. If the network connection drops, the job continues without restarting from the beginning.
  • Backup and restore. Creates backups in a mongodump-compatible archive. Optionally wraps the archive in an AES-256 encrypted ZIP file. Restoration works inside BsonJet or with the standard mongorestore utility.
  • Replica set monitoring. Shows the health of every replica set member. Displays live performance charts for each node so the operator can identify lag, load or failure conditions.
  • Sub-document display. Renders sub-documents as extra table rows instead of a single JSON cell. This approach simplifies reading nested structures and comparing fields across documents.
  • Built-in shell. Provides a mongosh-compatible shell inside the application. Executes JavaScript commands, database queries and administrative operations without switching to a terminal.
  • AI assistant. Connects to the user's own Claude or OpenAI key. Operates in read-only mode and shows the exact request that would be sent before any data leaves the computer.
  • Connection import. Imports connection settings from Compass, Studio 3T, Robo 3T, NoSQLBooster, DataGrip, DbGate and DBeaver. The import runs in one click and preserves credentials and host parameters.
  • Query editor. Accepts filters, sort and projections in mongo shell syntax. Offers autocomplete for field names, operators and values to reduce typing errors.
  • Document editing. Supports table, tree and JSON views. Edits the full document even when a projection hides some fields. Inserts multiple documents at once.
  • Index management. Shows how often each index is used. Allows hiding an index to test performance without it. Builds compound, TTL, text and partial indexes.
  • Commands and helpers. Runs database commands and helpers such as rs.status() or db.stats(). Includes templates, command history and autocomplete for repeated tasks.
  • GridFS management. Uploads, downloads and searches GridFS files. Manages users, passwords and roles without writing a single command.
  • Plugin SDK. Allows writing custom tools in .NET with their own tabs and ribbon commands. The SDK is in final preparation.
  • Performance on large datasets. Maintains responsiveness on big collections and on databases with tens of thousands of collections. The interface does not freeze during long operations.
  • Licensing. Free for personal use with the full version, no limits and no registration. A one-time Pro license for work covers every update of the major version without a subscription.

BsonJet was created by Letsnet s.r.o., a software development company. The program has been developed since 2023. The codebase is written in C# using the .NET platform. The development team focused on a MongoDB GUI that handles large data volumes, network interruptions and cross-server transfers. The first public releases targeted Windows, macOS and Linux. Later versions added the mongosh-compatible shell, the AI assistant and the connection import feature. The plugin SDK for .NET is the current development priority.
