Blober

Blober — Free Download. Cloud Transfers

Blober is a desktop application designed to transfer files directly between cloud storage services without downloading and re-uploading them. The program supports connections to Dropbox, Google Drive, Google Photos, AWS S3, Azure Blob, Backblaze B2, GoPro Cloud, Proton Drive, iCloud, pCloud, Box, OneDrive, and additional providers. Users select a source, choose a destination, configure filters and path templates, then start the transfer. Files move through the local machine, meaning credentials and data never pass through third-party servers. The application operates on macOS, Windows, and Linux with a one-time lifetime license that includes updates and no subscription fees.

  • Cloud-to-cloud transfer. This function enables direct file movement between two cloud storage providers without intermediate downloads to local storage or re-uploads from the user machine. The transfer process connects to the source provider, reads file metadata and content streams, then writes directly to the destination provider through the local computer. This approach reduces bandwidth consumption, eliminates temporary local storage requirements, and preserves file integrity during migration between different cloud architectures.
  • Provider connection manager. The application maintains authenticated sessions with multiple cloud storage services including Dropbox, Google Drive, Google Photos, AWS S3, Azure Blob, Backblaze B2, GoPro Cloud, Proton Drive, iCloud, pCloud, Box, and OneDrive. Each connection stores authentication tokens locally on the user machine. Adding a new provider requires entering credentials once, after which the service appears in the source and destination selection lists for all future transfer operations.
  • Transfer filtering system. Users define which files participate in a transfer operation by specifying filters based on file extension, size range, creation date, modification date, and filename patterns. The filtering engine evaluates each file against all active conditions before including it in the transfer queue. This function prevents unnecessary data movement when only specific file types or date ranges require migration between storage providers.
  • Path templating engine. The destination path for transferred files is constructed using template variables that include timestamps, original filenames, file extensions, file sizes, and source folder structure. Users create custom naming schemes that organize transferred content according to their preferred directory hierarchy. The templating system supports conditional logic for handling duplicate filenames and maintaining consistent organization across different cloud providers.
  • Automatic retry mechanism. When a transfer encounters network errors, provider rate limits, or temporary service unavailability, the application automatically retries the failed operation. The retry system uses exponential backoff to avoid overwhelming provider APIs and continues until every file in the queue reaches the destination. Transfer state persists across application restarts, allowing interrupted operations to resume without repeating completed work.
  • Parallel transfer execution. The application processes multiple files simultaneously by opening several concurrent connections to source and destination providers. Users configure the number of parallel operations based on available bandwidth and provider API limits. This function increases total transfer throughput when moving large numbers of small files or when provider latency limits single-connection performance.
  • Credential isolation. All authentication tokens, API keys, and session cookies remain stored exclusively on the user local machine. The application never transmits credentials to external servers, and no third-party service receives authentication data. This architecture ensures that cloud provider account access remains under user control throughout every transfer operation and prevents unauthorized access through centralized credential storage.
  • Destructive action confirmation. Before executing operations that delete, overwrite, or move files from a source location, the application presents a confirmation dialog describing the exact action and affected files. Users review the pending operation and explicitly approve or cancel it. This function prevents accidental data loss when transfer configurations include source cleanup or destination overwrite settings.
  • GoPro Cloud integration. Blober connects directly to GoPro Cloud accounts and retrieves media files without using the GoPro Plus web interface or its download limitations. Users browse their GoPro Cloud library, select footage, and transfer content to local storage, network-attached storage, or another cloud provider. The integration supports parallel downloads and bypasses the 25-file download cap present in the official GoPro web interface.
  • Google Photos library access. The application connects to Google Photos directly and downloads the entire photo and video library without requiring Google Takeout. The transfer process handles automatic resumption when connections drop and processes files in their original quality. This function remains operational following changes to third-party Google Photos API access that affected other transfer tools.
  • Cross-platform desktop application. Blober runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems from a single codebase. The application uses native system integrations for file system access, network communication, and user interface rendering on each platform. Transfer configurations, provider connections, and operation history remain consistent across all supported operating systems.
  • Lifetime license model. The application requires a one-time purchase that includes all future updates and feature additions. No recurring subscription fees, per-transfer charges, or storage limits apply to any transfer operation. The license covers installation on the user machines without restrictions on the number of transfers, total data volume, or connected cloud provider accounts.

Blober was created by blober.io with development beginning in 2023. The program is written in Go for the core transfer engine and C++ for platform-specific components, with a TypeScript-based user interface layer. The development team focused on building a desktop application that performs cloud-to-cloud transfers without routing data through external servers. Version 1.0 released in early 2024 with support for major cloud providers including Dropbox, Google Drive, and AWS S3. Subsequent releases added GoPro Cloud integration, Google Photos direct access, and expanded provider support throughout 2024 and 2025.
