Layer-based input remapping. RELYR allows assigning different actions to the same physical key or mouse button depending on the active layer. Users can hold Space, CapsLock, or a designated mouse button to temporarily activate an alternate set of shortcuts, launchers, and text expansion commands without changing the default behavior of those inputs in other contexts.
Application-specific profile automation. The program detects the foreground application and can automatically switch to a matching configuration profile. This means a key combination can perform one action in a web browser, another action in a code editor, and a third action in a file manager, without manual switching between profiles.
Macro recording and editing. RELYR includes a built-in macro recorder that captures keyboard and mouse input sequences after the user explicitly starts recording. Recorded macros can be reviewed, edited, and assigned to any key, layer, or mouse gesture. Playback speed and repetition options are available for each macro.
Mouse gesture recognition. Users can draw gestures while holding a configured mouse button. Each gesture direction and a simple tap can be assigned to separate actions, such as opening a folder, running a script, or sending a hotkey combination. This provides an alternative input method without occupying additional keyboard shortcuts.
Window snapping and monitor movement. RELYR includes actions for positioning the active window to specific screen regions, such as left half, right half, top corner, or full screen. Additional actions can move a window to the next or previous monitor, which supports multi-display workflows where frequent window relocation is required.
Virtual desktop management. The program can create, switch, and close Windows virtual desktops through assigned keys or gestures. Users can navigate between desktops in a defined order and move the currently active window to another desktop, reducing reliance on the default Windows Task View interface.
On-screen keyboard layouts. RELYR provides JIS and US keyboard layout displays that show the current key assignments for the selected layer. This visual reference updates when the user modifies a layer, making it easier to verify which actions are mapped to which physical keys without opening a separate settings window.
Customizable on-screen Deck. The Deck is a floating panel that can contain launchers for applications, Windows system controls, and live PC monitors such as CPU or memory usage. Users can show or hide the Deck with a hotkey, rearrange its items, and assign custom actions to each element for quick access during normal work.
Drag-and-drop executable registration. Files and shortcuts can be dragged directly from Windows Explorer into the RELYR interface. The program extracts the target path and creates an action that launches the executable or opens the file. This method avoids manually typing file paths and reduces configuration errors for frequently used programs.
Automatic archive extraction. RELYR can monitor selected folders for newly added archive files, such as ZIP or 7z packages. When a matching file appears, the program extracts its contents automatically according to the user's predefined rules, which is suitable for automated download directories or repetitive file handling tasks.
Emergency stop shortcut. A global hotkey combination, Ctrl + Alt + Shift + F12, immediately disables all active remapping and macro playback. This safety feature gives users a way to regain normal keyboard and mouse behavior if a configuration error causes unexpected input loops or blocks access to standard system functions.
Local data storage and privacy. All configuration files, recorded macros, and diagnostic logs are saved under %AppData%\RELYR and %LocalAppData%\RELYR. Input content is not transmitted to external servers. The program uses Windows global input hooks to process keyboard and mouse events, and no remote telemetry or cloud synchronization is included.

RELYR began development in 2023 as a private project by a single maintainer known as zitan-source. The first public beta appeared in 2024 on GitHub Pages. The application is written in C# using the .NET framework, with the graphical interface built on Windows Presentation Foundation. The developer maintains the project independently, publishing installation packages, update files, and SHA-256 checksums for each release. The software targets 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems. Early versions focused on Space and CapsLock layer remapping, while later builds added macro recording, mouse gestures, the on-screen Deck, and virtual desktop control.
