DriveForge — Free Download. Disk partitioning

DriveForge is a portable Windows disk tool that combines bootable USB creation, system cloning, image backup and restore, deleted-file recovery, secure erasure, partition management and drive diagnostics in one executable. It builds Windows installation sticks from ISO, WIM or ESD sources for BIOS and UEFI systems, writes Linux and raw disk images to removable media, creates multi-boot drives that hold several ISOs selected at startup, and can write one image to multiple drives in sequence with erase, write, verify and eject steps. It also clones a running PC to an external drive that boots on other hardware or to an internal disk as a standard Windows installation, and backs up a machine to a single .wim image with full or incremental restore points, which can be written back to a blank drive and made bootable. Recovery works on NTFS, exFAT and FAT, including a deep-scan carving mode that reconstructs files after filesystem entries are gone.

  • Windows USB creation. DriveForge creates bootable Windows installation USB drives from ISO, WIM and ESD source files. It supports both legacy BIOS and modern UEFI boot modes, so the resulting stick works across older and newer motherboards. The function can optionally bypass Windows 11 hardware checks and Microsoft account requirements during setup, and it can inject the current PC's drivers into the installation media. This serves system administrators, repair technicians and individuals reinstalling Windows on machines with uncommon storage or network controllers.
  • Raw image writing. The program writes Linux distributions and arbitrary raw disk images with .iso, .img, .raw, .bin and .dd extensions directly to USB sticks and other removable drives. It handles images that are not Windows installation media and therefore cannot be processed by the Windows USB builder. The written drive is bootable according to the image's own bootloader. This covers Linux installers, rescue systems, firmware updaters and custom disk images.
  • Multi-boot USB builder. DriveForge constructs multi-boot USB drives that store several ISO files at once through Ventoy integration. At boot time the user selects which image to start from a menu. This removes the need to carry separate sticks for each operating system or utility. The function suits technicians who need Windows installers, Linux distributions and diagnostic tools on one device.
  • Sequential multi-drive writing. One image can be written to several connected drives in a single operation. DriveForge erases, writes, verifies and ejects each target before moving to the next. This reduces repetitive manual steps when preparing identical sticks for deployment. Each drive is verified after writing, so a failed write is detected before the batch completes.
  • Running PC cloning. The clone function copies the currently running Windows installation to a portable USB or external drive, producing a system that boots on other hardware with applications and settings intact. The same function can write the running system to an internal disk as a normal Windows installation. It supports migration to new hardware and creation of bootable system copies for backup or transfer.
  • Image backup and restore. DriveForge saves an entire machine to a single .wim image file and supports full and incremental restore points. Backups can run on a schedule without user interaction when the target drive is connected. The image can later be restored to a blank drive and made bootable again. This provides bare-metal recovery after disk failure, malware damage or accidental erasure.
  • Deleted file recovery. Recovery operates on NTFS, exFAT and FAT filesystems. A deep-scan carving mode reconstructs files from raw sectors even after the filesystem entry itself has been removed. This addresses data loss after formatting, partition deletion or filesystem corruption. Recovered files can be written to a separate drive to avoid overwriting the source.
  • Secure erasure. The erasure tools overwrite an entire drive, wipe only the free space on a volume, shred individual files, or clean usage traces from a system. The implementation is SSD-aware and states what TRIM can and cannot guarantee on flash storage. This supports disposal, resale and removal of sensitive data before transferring a device.
  • Partition management. DriveForge creates, deletes, resizes and moves partitions. It converts disks between MBR and GPT layouts, sets the active partition, and searches for lost partitions. Before risky operations it saves a partition table backup that can be used for recovery. This covers disk reorganization, operating system migration and repair of damaged partition structures.
  • Drive Diagnostic Center. The diagnostic module reads SMART data and presents a plain-language health verdict, tracks temperature trends over time, benchmarks read and write speed, scans the disk surface for bad blocks, and checks and repairs file systems. This helps identify failing drives before data loss and verifies storage performance after changes.
  • Portable single-file operation. The entire application ships as one executable of approximately 80 MB with no installer. Nothing is written to Program Files and no uninstall step is required. It runs from a USB stick or any folder, which suits use on machines where software installation is restricted or undesirable.
  • Offline and private operation. Core functions work without an internet connection. The program contains no advertisements, no telemetry, no account requirement and no phone-home behavior. This suits air-gapped environments, privacy-sensitive workplaces and recovery scenarios where network access is unavailable.
  • Localization and release process. The interface is available in 17 languages, including right-to-left layouts. DriveForge is released under the GPLv3 license, built from tagged source by GitHub Actions, and every release carries a cryptographic build-provenance attestation that allows verification of the build origin.

DriveForge is developed by ForgeLabsSoft, a small software team focused on storage and system deployment tools for Windows. The project began in 2019 as an internal utility for preparing installation media and cloning machines during hardware refresh work. Early versions handled only Windows USB creation and raw image writing. Cloning, image backup, recovery, erasure, partition management and diagnostics were added in later release cycles as the tool was used in repair and deployment environments. The program is written in C++ with platform-specific Windows APIs for storage access, boot configuration and filesystem operations.
