  • Offline OCR engine. The recognition core operates locally through an embedded Tesseract implementation. No cloud connection, API call, or external server dependency is required at any stage of text extraction. The engine supports English, Turkish, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. Documents, remote desktop windows, paused video frames, and non-copyable PDF content can be converted into selectable and editable text without network activity.
  • Multi-monitor capture modes. SnipFor supports full-screen capture, active window capture, and user-defined region capture across multiple connected displays. A live magnifier lens appears during region selection to assist with precise boundary alignment. A delayed capture timer can be configured before the snapshot is taken, allowing the user to prepare tooltips, menus, or hover states that would otherwise disappear.
  • Pixel-level selection control. The region selection interface allows adjustment of the capture area by individual pixels. Arrow keys or fine-drag controls can shift the left, right, top, and bottom edges without restarting the selection. This removes unwanted desktop edges, taskbar fragments, or overlapping windows from the final image. The zoomed preview window confirms exact dimensions and coordinates before the capture is finalized.
  • Annotation and markup toolkit. Captured images can be marked with text labels, arrows, rectangles, ellipses, freehand strokes, and highlight overlays. A smart blur and mosaic function obscures sensitive portions of the image, such as names, tokens, or serial numbers. Auto-increment step stamps add numbered callouts in sequence, which accelerates the creation of technical documentation, bug reports, and training guides.
  • Always-on-top pinning. Any captured or edited image can be pinned as a floating window above all other applications. The pinned snapshot remains visible while the user switches to code editors, terminals, browsers, or design software. The floating window can be moved, resized, or closed independently. This function replaces the need to split the screen or repeatedly reopen the same reference image during long tasks.
  • Built-in image viewer and browser. SnipFor includes an internal gallery for reviewing saved captures without opening a separate file manager. The viewer supports zoom, rotation, cropping, flipping, and deletion to the Recycle Bin. Files can be navigated in sequence, and common image operations are available directly from the viewer toolbar. This keeps the capture, review, and cleanup workflow inside a single interface.
  • Screen video and GIF recording. The application can record a selected screen region or the full desktop as a video file. GIF recording is also available for short loops, demonstrations, and support tickets. Recording settings include frame rate, output quality, and capture area. The built-in trimmer removes unwanted segments from recorded video before export.
  • Media conversion and compression. SnipFor converts between more than fifteen video, audio, and image formats. A one-click Nitro-Optimize compression routine reduces file size for email attachments, chat uploads, or documentation repositories. Batch processing is supported for multiple files. The conversion engine preserves metadata where applicable and provides a preview of estimated output size before processing begins.
  • PDF export, split, and merge. Captures, annotated images, and converted documents can be exported directly to PDF. The split function separates a multi-page PDF into individual files, while the merge function combines multiple PDFs or images into one document. Page order can be adjusted before merging. This module removes the need for a separate PDF utility for common documentation tasks.
  • Corporate watermarking and IT policy. Enterprise deployments can enforce automatic watermarking on every capture made within the organization. The watermark text, position, opacity, and format are controlled centrally through Windows Registry policy. Administrators can distribute SnipFor silently via MSI packages across the organization. This ensures consistent branding and compliance without requiring individual user configuration.
  • Lightweight architecture and fast startup. The program is built on a Python and Qt foundation with an emphasis on low resource consumption. Launch time is kept minimal, and RAM usage remains low during idle and capture operations. The application does not install background services, telemetry modules, or update daemons. This makes it suitable for older Windows workstations and virtualized desktop environments.
  • Local data handling only. All processing, including OCR, annotation rendering, and media conversion, occurs on the local machine. No screenshots, extracted text, or usage statistics are transmitted to external servers. Temporary files are stored locally and can be cleared by the user.
