ATLAS Audio Player is a Windows application for organizing, browsing and playing local and network-based music collections. It provides visual navigation through artists, albums and tracks, including artwork and recording information. Music can be played locally on Windows through WASAPI. ATLAS can also act as a control point for compatible UPnP/DLNA, OpenHome and HEOS devices, with available controls depending on the capabilities of the selected renderer.
The development of ATLAS Audio Player began in 2019 as an internal project by a small team of audio software engineers focused on Windows audio technologies. The first public release appeared in 2020 through the Microsoft Store. The application is written in C++ with a native Windows UI layer, using WASAPI for audio output and custom implementations of UPnP and OpenHome control point protocols. HEOS support was added in a later update based on reverse-engineered documentation and device testing. Spotify Connect integration arrived in the most recent major version. The team maintains the project without external funding, releasing paid updates while preserving a free trial period. Development priorities include precise audio path verification and stable interaction with network renderers.
